ADULT SERVICES
Material Collections: The Adult Services Department provides a complete selection of books, magazines, newspapers, audio visual materials and various on-line databases. Services Include: - Reference, Information & Referrals (in- house, telephone and e-mail)Internet Access for the Public
- Computers for Public Use
- Interlibrary Loan
- Homebound Services
- Job Listings and Civil Service Information
Programs Include: - Workshops, Arts and Crafts, Driving Courses
- Computer Workshops, Bus Trips, Book Discussion, Art Exhibits, English for Speakers of Other Languages, GED classes, Cultural Programs and Others.
YOUNG ADULT SERVICES
The Young Adult Department serves young adults in grades 6 - 12. Young adult fiction books, magazines, graphic novels and books-on-tape are located in the "Teen Space" area of the Youth Services Room. Non-fiction books are shelved in the adult non-fiction. A yellow young adult sticker distinguishes them. A red "YA" sticker identifies fiction for upper age young adults shelved with the adult fiction. High School Paperbacks are found in the High School Browsing section. Internet, on-line databases and computer access is available at the "Teen Space" computer bar. A variety of programs for young adults are offered including crafts, book discussions, SAT and college workshops and movies. The Young Adult Librarian, Syntychia Kendrick, can be found in the Children's Room
CHILDREN’S SERVICES
 Tumblebooks The Children's Room serves children from birth through 5th grade. In the juvenile collection are books, magazines, book-on-tape, audiocassettes and CD's both musical and computer. There are recreational and educational videos for children, which may be checked out with an adult library card and a small collection of parenting books and magazines. With proper registration, access to the Internet, on-line databases and computer programs are available. A variety of activities for children of all ages are provided including story times, book discussions, workshops, crafts, movies and shows. Class and /or day care visits are pre-arranged by calling the Children's Room (489-2220) for space and staff availability. |
