Learn to multitask working with graphics, using Windows drawing and painting tools, copy, cut and paste commands.

AARP Defensive Driving Class

Friday, August 15,  9:15 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Fees:     $20.00 for AARP Members.   $25.00 for Non-Members.
A separate check or money order is required for each participant, payable to AARP.  AARP membership cards are to be presented at registration and the instructor on the day of the class.

Citizenship Classes
June 23 - August 30Wednesdays and Fridays 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Join us for a free ten-week Citizenship preparation course which focuses on language and civics skills needed to pass the U.S. Citizenship Exam. It also offers free access to legal counseling.
This program is made possible by Literacy Nassau based on a grant from New York State Office of New Americans.

HSE (High School Equivalency) CourseFormerly known as GED

Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Registration dates: September 17 and 22

Testing begins promptly at 6:00 p.m.)

This program helps students to improve their reading, writing and math skills. It prepares studentsto obtain their HSE diplomas. Registration and evaluationtakes approximately three hours including filling out anapplication, a writing sample and reading section.(Reading and math assessment will determineenrollment in the course).


(English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m.
Registration dates: September 22 and 23
(Testing begins promptly at 10:00 a.m.)

The class helps non-English speakers to improvetheir English with speaking, listening, reading and writing at all levels.
Registration Fees:
$65 for GED and $55 for ESOL classes.
(Material fees & textbooks not included.)


Classes are held for Adults 21 years and older.

Money order ONLY payable to NASSAU BOCES.

All students must be officially enrolled after meeting theclass requirements. Payments will be made after evaluation process is completed. Photo ID required at registration.

Exercises for Balance & Strength for Seniors

Fall Prevention Program - Introduction

Wednesday, July 9 at 2:00 p.m.

Learn about the fall prevention program offering tips to avoid a fall in the future. There is no exercise in this session.

Level 1

Wednesday, July 16 at 2:00 p.m.
Registration begins on Tuesday, July 8.

This session is a simple balance and strength class. A non-weighted ball and resistance band is used. Some chair exercises and standing movements will be included.

Level 2

Wednesday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m.
Registration begins on Thursday, July 10.

This session provides more challenges in the areas of balance and strength. Resistance bands are used. (Level 1 is recommended).

Level 3

Wednesday, July 30 at 2:00 p.m.
Registration begins on Tuesday, July 15.

This session will focus on maintaining balance and building bone and muscle strength. This level involves primarily standing and balance.

Presented by Susan Hannon, a registered nurse & community outreach educator from Winthrop University Hospital.

 Zumba Class

Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.July 16, 23, 30, August 6 and 27
These fun-filled classes with fast and slow rhythms, tone and sculpt your body while burning fat with easy-to-follow moves.

Tai Chi

Master Marvin German, a certified Tai Chi instructor, welcomes you to join his class to improve back strength, fall prevention and balance.

Chair Yoga

Fridays, 12:15  - 1:15 p.m.August 22, 29 September 12, 19, 26 and October 3
Practice chair yoga to achieve physical and mental balance. With this yoga class you will stand, sit and do prone postures.

Slim n’ Trim
