Making a Way to Freedom:A History of African Americans on Long Island

 Saturday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m.
Lynda R. Day, a Long Island resident, is a professor of Africana Studies at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York and a curator of Black History at the African American Museum of Nassau County. Her book, Making a Way to Freedom, is considered the first comprehensive history of African Americans on Long Island covering the areas from Brooklyn to the East End. It also records the history of African slave trade in colonial days to the Civil Rights struggles of the 1960s and 1970s.
